House Democrats write to FDA

House Energy & Commerce Committee Democrats wrote to U.S. FDA Commissioner Ostroff requesting his agency require opioid manufacturers to revise their product labels to reflect concerns surrounding neonatal abstinence syndrome. The letter was signed by 22 members.

Federal Legislation Introduced

Prior to the August recess, Sens. Cassidy (R-LA) and Murphy (D-CT) introduced the Mental Health Reform Act of 2015. The legislation seeks to make numerous reforms surrounding the mental healthcare system, including the establishment of an Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
